Sycamore Kiwanis Continues Its Support for Kish Hospital

The Kiwanis Club of Sycamore recently made its fourth pledge payment towards their commitment to the new Kishwaukee Community Hospital. Over $16,000 is raised yearly by the club through their peanut sales, pancake breakfasts, food booths at the Pumpkin Festival and the Car Show, and other fundraising events. In addition to funds that support the pediatric room at Kishwaukee Community Hospital, the club supports the Key Club at Sycamore High School, Builders Club at Sycamore Middle School, K-Kids at Southeast School, and the Aktion Club at Opportunity House, with money, time, and talent.
Four local Kiwanis clubs, DeKalb Kiwanis, Sycamore Kiwanis, Kishwaukee-DeKalb Kiwanis, and Genoa-Kingston Kiwanis originally joined together to pledge $25,000 to the new Kishwaukee Community Hospital. A pediatrics room is named in their honor.
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time.
Larry Forsberg, Illinois/Eastern Iowa Governor and member of the Sycamore club said, “Kiwanis clubs all over world are trying to make life better for children. In this district, one of our focuses is on children born with a spastic paralysis. The Illinois/Eastern Iowa District’s foundation has raised millions of dollars to support research in spastic paralysis, including spina bifida.” The Sycamore club meets at 6 p.m. for dinner on the first, third, and fifth Tuesdays of each month at Carls Fargo in downtown Sycamore.
“The Kiwanians can feel very proud of their role in raising the level of hospital care available in the community,” said Renee Ellingson, KishHealth Foundation executive director. “The community is blessed to have organizations like Kiwanis. We are very grateful for all of their support.”
