KCH Receives Toy Donation

Kaneland High School's Student Council recently donated 75 teddy bears and stuffed animals to Kishwaukee Community Hospital's Pediatric and Emergency departments, as well as the Community Wellness department at Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich. The toys will be given to the hospitals' pediatric patients.
Javier Martinez, Student Council faculty advisor for the Maple Park school, said he wanted his students to experience the joy of giving to others.
We chose Kishwaukee Hospital because many of our students at Kaneland use Kishwaukee's health services, particularly those who live in Maple Park," he said.
The donation was facilitated by Renee Simons, executive director of the Kishwaukee Health Foundation. The toys were presented to Vickie Guthrie, RN, director of the Pediatric department; Cindy Graves, RN, director of Emergency Services; and Shelly Johnson, RN, director of Community Wellness for KCH and VWCH.
Guthrie thanked the students for their donation. "The kids will love these," she said.
